Songwriter Series: Sean Marshall + Greg Townsend
Born and raised outside New York City, singer-songwriter Sean Marshall has since resided at the Jersey Shore, the Midwest, the Mountain West, and now the Lehigh Valley. His experience across diverse landscapes and audiences seeps through his songs with an eclectic vision of America and its people. 3 full-length studio albums display this sonic range, with sounds rooted in classic folk structures, enriched with blues textures, and laced with country ambiance.
Greg Townsend is a singer/songwriter from Hunterdon County, NJ and a longtime member (guitar, backing vocals) of Philadelphia rock band Desoto Jones. After over 20 years of writing and performing with bands, he also had written and arranged dozens of songs that were never performed or recorded. In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he recorded his first solo-EP Learning. In late 2022, he returned to the studio to record a follow up EP entitled Cannonball to continue the process of bringing these unheard songs to life. Greg's music is heavily influenced by the big melodies of early 90s alternative acts and the intimate soundscapes of early 70s singer/songwriter icons. He grew up listening to bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. but has been equally influenced by melodic singer/songwriters like Jackson Brown, David Crosby and Duncan Sheik.
