Boonton Coffee Presents...invites you to listen to the lush yet rhythmic sounds of New Jersey’s own Hodera, as they enter the room to bounce minor chords with major feels from wall to wall in celebration of their new full-length album, Dear Friend slated for release the same day.
Hodera is the endeavor of New Jersey native Matt Smith, which began in 2014 with the release of the 's first EP "Reset to Default". Now, nearly a decade into the band's existence, they've become something of a cult favorite in their home state. The project's first two LP's, United By Birdcalls and First Things First, garnered attention across New Jersey and beyond, with the latter of the two albums held as a subtle masterpiece for its effortless blend of heart-on-sleeve emo and Americana twang.
Though the band put out EPs Besides and You’re Worth It in 2018 and 2020 respectively, the release of Dear Friend will be the first LP they've released in nearly 6 years. With each release, Smith’s lyrics have grown more confessional, his melodies stickier, and the riffs crunchier; Dear Friend is the obvious next step for the band who has never sounded this full-bodied, powerful, or confident.
