Presents Series: David Moore & Adam Rubenstein of Chamberlain
Let's first preface that this type of event for Chamberlain, quite plainly put—never happens. Those that hold the music of Indiana's Chamberlain near and dear to their hearts are sure in for a treat. Whether it be their latest album Red Weather, their magnificent Americana twist of The Moon My Saddle, or harking back to their early indie rock Fate's Got a Driver (plus plenty more recorded material surrounding 'em (here's looking at you 5-Year Diary, Exit 263, Raise It High and more)—stories are what their songs are chock full of. We're thrilled to not only hear select songs from their repertoire stripped down to their beautiful bones by vocalist David Moore, guitarist Adam Rubenstein and special guest, pianist Jonathan Cohen, but also anecdotes between songs told by those who've written, recorded and toured 'em. Join us for this very special night.
Background: Chamberlain's members (which also include guitarist Clay Snyder, bassist Curtis Mead and drummer Charlie Walker) first played together as teenagers in the seminal Midwestern band Split Lip. With their passionate songs and poetic lyrics, the Doghouse Records albums For the Love of the Wounded (1993) and Fate’s Got a Driver (1995) helped define the emerging emo-core genre and influenced such future stars as Thursday, the Gaslight Anthem, Taking Back Sunday, Rise Against, New Found Glory and the Get Up Kids.
In 1995, the group changed its name to Chamberlain and introduced a refined, rootsier sound exemplified by The Moon My Saddle. After disbanding in 2000, Chamberlain reunited for a 2010 tour and recorded a new single entitled Raise It High. In addition to a 2019 EU/UK tour, the band also recently released Red Weather, its first new full length album in more than a decade.
